Intel Amplifies Global Chip Manufacturing with Major Investments in Vietnam and Europe
Intel has confirmed plans to expand its semiconductor operations in Vietnam, aiming to boost its current USD 1.5 billion factory. This expansion is set to contribute significantly to the region's chip production, with about 70% of output expected from the Vietnamese facility. Intel's global strategy includes diversifying its manufacturing footprint across countries, aiming for an export turnover of USD 10–11 billion this year.
In Europe, Intel has invested approximately USD 33 billion in a new production plant in Germany, part of a broader effort to ramp up semiconductor production across the continent. The US has also allocated USD 240 million to support the semiconductor industry, mainly focusing on assisting US businesses in Vietnam.
Vietnam, hosting Intel’s largest global factory for assembling, packaging, and testing chips, plays a crucial role in the company's global operations. The Southeast Asian country looks forward to further investments from Intel, especially following the US President's support for the chip industry during a recent visit.
Intel's commitment to expanding in Vietnam dispels rumors about halting its planned investments, ensuring continued growth in the semiconductor space. With these developments, Intel cements its position as a key player in the global semiconductor market, addressing the rising demand for chips amid technological advancements.
