HPF granular resins (molding powders) are manufactured in a variety of grades to obtain a different balance between handle-ability and properties. Granular fluoropolymers are ideal for compression, molding variety of components and shapes such as rods, tubes and sheets. Granular resins are processed in general by compression molding at ambient temperature, followed by sintering above the crystalline melting point. The molecular size of granular grade HPF is 50–500 micrometers. Granular HPF resins are molded by first pressing and heating, and then they are shaped into sheets, rods, or billets. These granules are available in a range of particle sizes and properties and are used for applications that require superior mechanical or electrical properties.

Based on application, additives is the second-largest application in the HPF market.

HPF additives, when combined with conventional polymers, improve performance, facilitate processing, and increase processor yield. They impart low friction, wear resistance, and non-stick properties to compounds, films, and cables. HPF additives are used in plastics and rubbers to reduce wear and friction and improve processing. They are being used in lubricants, oils, printing inks, and coatings to increase lubricity, improve release properties, and water and oil repellency, where desired.
