In March 2024, BASF announced that it is investing in new fermentation plant for biologic and biotechnologically based crop protection products at the Ludwigshafen site. The production facility will start up in the second half of 2025, producing high-value products for farmers, such as biological fungicides and seed treatments.

Corteva is an American agricultural chemical and seed-based firm that was part of the agricultural unit of DowDuPont before being spun off as an independent public company. Crop protection technologies alone include herbicides, fungicides, and nematode insecticides.The company remains one of the world's biggest producers of seeds and crop-protection products. In March 2023, Corteva acquired Stoller, one of the largest independent companies in the biologicals sector and headquartered in Houston, Texas. The transaction will further Corteva's commitment to farmers with green, sustainable solutions, aligned with advancing farming practice, and proven in their effectiveness.
