Electric Vehicle Actuators Market

EV actuators are an essential part of electric vehicle in passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles. Actuator are implemented to convert the electrical signals from the control unit into required output. Most actuators are electric motors or electro-magnetic valves. AC motor are divided into two main categories namely asynchronous motor or induction motor and synchronous motor. Induction motor are relatively cost effective. The rapid development in the field of power electronics and control techniques are significant driver for the development of EV actuator market.

However, actuators face challenges such as limited space for installation, operation in extreme conditions and the demand for higher precision and enhanced reliability. Most of the automotive manufacturers use permanent magnet synchronous motors for their hybrid and electric vehicles. Bosch, Hella, Shenghuabo, and Mitsuba among others are major manufacturer of EV actuators. For instance, in 2019 Robert Bosch has bought Daimler’s share of EM-motive, the 50:50 joint venture that they set up in 2011 to manufacture electric motors for electric and hybrid vehicles.
